About Us
Background. The firm was established in 1992 at the inception of the commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS) industry. With a foundation in representing the FDIC, the firm soon became counsel for one of the first FDIC CMBS loan servicers. Over three decades later, McCoy & Orta represents a wide variety of commercial real estate lenders, mortgage sellers and loan servicers in the capital markets industry. Since our founding, the firm has been recognized as a Minority and Women-Owned Law Firm. The firm’s substantial experience, personal service and competitive fees have resulted in sustained success spanning more than 30 years.
Loan Originations. For over 25 years, McCoy & Orta serves as loan origination counsel for many leading lenders in the capital markets industry, including national banks, debt funds, insurance companies, and other major Wall Street firms. Our attorneys have closed single and multiple property securitized and balance sheet loans for various institutional lenders, ranging in loan amounts from $1 million to over $100 million. These loans are secured by fee, leasehold, and condominium interests in all property types across all 50 states, including retail, office, hotel, multifamily, mixed-use, mobile home community, self-storage, and industrial properties.
Loan Transfers. We have also distinguished ourselves in the capital markets industry as the only law firm with a legal department dedicated solely to providing comprehensive loan transfer services. Today, the firm serves as assignment counsel to nearly every major CMBS and CLO mortgage seller in the industry. The assignment department also serves as assignment counsel for mortgage transfers required under both warehouse line facilities repurchase (“repo”) agreements and mortgage loan sale purchase agreements.
Loan Servicing. McCoy & Orta represents some of the largest commercial real estate loan servicers in the Commercial Mortgage-Backed Securities (CMBS) industry. The firm maintains a highly sophisticated and concentrated loan servicing practice advising primary, master and special servicers in connection with all aspects of post-securitization CMBS loan administration, including addressing issues arising from securitizations, assumptions and other complex loan servicing matters.
Our Attorneys. The firm has a strong bench of talented attorneys, including several who were partners, senior associates and mid-level associates at international AM Law 100 law firms. These attorneys work remotely from New York, New Jersey, Missouri, Florida and Texas with our Oklahoma City office attorneys and staff as part of McCoy & Orta’s unified and established origination and servicing teams.
